Flamengo taunt Real Madrid over shirt sales

Having aquired Adriano earlier in the season, Brazilian side Flamengo's shirt sales have gone through the roof!

With Flamengo being Brazil's most popular club, and helped by Adriano changing his squad number every 5 minutes, it seems that there is no holding those Brazilians back when it comes to getting hold of a replica shirt.

"According to the most recent figures available we have sold 435,000 shirts in a little less than 60 days. That's one every 13.5 seconds

"By way of example, Real Madrid, since buying Kaka (in June) and (Cristiano) Ronaldo (in July) have sold a shirt every 16 seconds," Flamengo chief Ricardo Hinrichsen claimed on theGloboesporte website.

Good news for manufacturers Nike who are expecting a bumper pay day, but expect a Real Madrid club shop opening in Brazil quite soon!
